Learning Target for Week 4 10/28-11/1
By the end of the week, I will be able to list, describe and contrast the four major biomacromolecules in living systems by creating a table and web page portfolio to summarize key points outlined by the teacher, a table regarding biomacromolecules, references, notes and relevant related links.

G. Pertussis
Pertussis, or whooping cough, is a respiratory disease that is very easily spread. The disease is transmitted by coughing or sneezing while in close contact with other people, and they breathe in the bacteria. Symptoms that last for one to two weeks include cough, fever, runny nose, vomiting, and for infants, apnea (a pause in breathing pattern). Antibiotics and vaccines can be used to prevent pertussis. Risks if the pertussis is left untreated for infants include pneumonia (lung infection), apnea, encephalopathy (disease of the brain), or death. Risks for teens and adults include rib fractures, weight loss, and loss of bladder control. Heart failure is a risk if pertussis is treated.
